For this post I will give you a little preview for my final one. Once again, I am researching what the first olympics were like. My questions are also, What were the sports in the first Olympic games? Did they just hold it in Greece? and What did they give the winners? I decided to go off of my questions a little though. What did they give to the winners? When I was doing research I discovered that there was only one winner per event. The prize they got for winning was an Olive wreath, also known as a kotinos. I also found out that there was a lot of sports, like for example… jumping, wrestling, boxing, pankration, equestrian events, and even more! I also have found out that there were really famous athletes that people rooted for like, Melankomas of Caria, he was a boxing champion. And also Leonidas of Rhodes, he was a really famous runner. The olympics didn’t change as much as I thought they would after all. I am so excited to keep researching and to find more information. Thanks for reading and stay tuned in next week.
